What is an Aerial Adventure Park / Challenge Ropes Course?
An Aerial Adventure Park aka Sky Trek is a challenge course designed to provide outdoor personal development and team building through high elements – that is, towers and elements at varying degrees of difficulty and heights. Our sky trekking course is built for both the challenge and for fun! A series of cables stretching between towers form an assortment of different elements. You’ll be harnessed and secured on a rope belay system as you move through the course. Our variety of features and elements as well as varying levels of difficulty are designed to test your skill, balance, nerves, and strength.
Who can participate?
Kids of all ages are welcome! Participants must be at least 4 years old with a minimum reach of 46 inches and a maximum weight of 275 pounds. All children ages 4 to 6 must be accompanied by a participating adult at a ratio of 1 adult per 2 children. Youth ages 7 to 14 must have a supervising adult on the ground below the course at a ratio of 1 adult per 10 youth. Youth 15 to 17 must have a supervising adult present on the property during the activity. Participants under 7 years old are only able to access the Copper (Beginner) course and only those that can reach 60″ standing will be able to access the Silver and Gold courses. Participants must be able to fit into our harnesses and be in good health. If you are pregnant, have heart trouble, or other medical concerns, please consult your doctor before participating. You will be required to sign an Assumption of Risk Waiver prior to your participation.
What should I wear and bring?
Because you’ll be wearing a climbing harness, we recommend pants but knee-length shorts are fine (short shorts are too uncomfortable). No loose clothing or jewelry. Long hair needs to be pulled back. For your safety, bare feet, sandals and flip flops/crocs are not allowed. Closed-toe shoes are required. We also suggest a strap for your sunglasses/glasses. If the sun is shining, then put on sunscreen and bring water!
What if it rains?
Can I bring my camera?
Is it safe?
Safety is our number one concern! We use only the highest quality equipment, and our course has been designed, constructed, and inspected by a professional vendor member of the Association for Challenge Course Technology. Our staff is fully trained to ACCT standards, and inspects the course and gear daily. As with any outdoor adventure experience, some inherent risk is involved.
What is the payment and cancellation policy?
We require full payment at the time of reservation and our cancellation policy differs, depending on whether or not you have purchased Worry-Free Cancellation plan. We highly recommend purchasing Worry-Free Cancellation plan, as it allows you the flexibility you many need. Your trip time is your arrival time.
How do I book?
Book online right now or call our reservations department to book your Aerial Adventure today! Please call 877-ZIP-RAFT (720-807-3250)
When should we arrive?
Your trip time is your arrival time. Please make sure to leave time for traffic and check in as soon as you arrive at our Idaho Springs basecamp!
Do you charge taxes? What are your permit and booking fees?
We do not charge taxes on our activities because services are not taxed. We only charge taxes on our retail items.
We are required to pay numerous fees to many local, regional and state organizations, including but not limited to the City of Idaho Springs, Clear Creek County, Division of Oil and Public Safety (OPS), Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Colorado Department of Revenue and our property owner.
In addition to those fees, our booking software and credit card fees charge a large percentage of each transaction. When weather cancels events, we eat this cost. If weather is not the cancellation reason, however, we must charge the customer to recoup that cost.
In addition, we are a voluntary member of numerous local, state and national organizations that offer regulatory and strategic support to us as an outfitter. These membership costs are not included in our fees but they do provide additional layers of safety and professionalism that not all outfitters adhere to but we are committed to following. These include: Colorado River Outfitter’s Association (CROA), America Outdoors (AO), Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and more.
How long do trips take?
On average, our aerial trips take 2-3 hours, from the time you arrive to the time you leave. However, this may change quite a bit depending on multiple factors:
- The activity. Our Challenge Ropes Course usually lasts no more than 2 hours from start to finish. Our full Zip line course usually lasts around 2 1/2 hours but our Happy Hour Zip line is usually done within 2 hours (because it has 5 lines instead of 8). Rafting requires bus transportation so can often be 3 hours or more total.
- Trip size. We can start up to 12 people at a time on our Zip line course and we can fit up to 70 people on our Ropes Course. However, if the actual number of people on your trip is less then the trip may be shorter.
- Weather. We can get severe weather in Colorado. We raft during most kinds of weather (except hail) but high winds or rain can sometimes delay or extend trip times for our aerial adventures.
