This summer, we’re introducing you to some of the incredible people behind the scenes at Colorado Adventure Center, starting with one of our most experienced raft guide managers, Ryan Hill.
As one of CAC’s rafting managers, Ryan helps operations run smoothly while also training the next generation of guides. Having been with CAC since 2014, he brings years of experience and leadership to the team.
He teaches guide school, leads swift-water rescue classes, and helps prepare guides for the challenges of busy river days.

Ryan Hill’s Role At Colorado Adventure Center
“A big part of what we do is communicating with the team, giving them direction and coaching,” Ryan explains.
“I get a lot of satisfaction out of helping other guides through difficult moments and helping them figure out how to process those emotions and get back to work the next day.”
Ryan says one of the most rewarding parts of the job is introducing first-time rafters to the experience.
Why Ryan Enjoys Guiding First-Time Rafters
“I love taking first-timers on my boat because I get the opportunity to share this experience with them,” he says.
“We train hard and practice hard to make sure we give people a great experience. Sometimes things happen on the river, but that’s what we train for, too. We’re going to make it as fun as possible while keeping everybody as safe as we can.”

Ryan’s Favorite Clear Creek Rafting Section
When asked about his favorite section of the river, Ryan immediately points to the canyon on Clear Creek.
“It’s so fast-paced and action-packed,” he says.
“You’re constantly making moves and having a ball. There’s not a lot of downtime, so you exert yourself quite a bit, but that’s also part of the fun. You get through it exhausted, but feeling like you accomplished something.”
The intermediate rafting trip includes the Canyon section, and with water levels slowly increasing, the Canyon promises guests an unforgettable experience, featuring fast rapids, nonstop excitement, and stunning mountain scenery around every turn.
Whether he’s guiding guests through Clear Creek Canyon or helping train new guides, Ryan’s passion for the river and his team is clear in everything he does.
We’re lucky to have him as part of the CAC family.
